Reuters. French President Emmanuel Macron met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Thursday (December 4) ahead of a welcoming ceremony, during his fourth state visit to China. Xi and Macron attended a welcome ceremony before sitting down for talks. Macron met Xi seeking stronger commercial ties, as the European Union prepares to toughen up its trade rules.
Xi and Macron oversaw the signing of 12 cooperation agreements in Beijing, pledging to deepen ties across population ageing, bilateral investment, nuclear energy, and panda conservation. The countries also agreed to enhance cooperation in aerospace and nuclear energy, artificial intelligence, the green economy and biopharmaceuticals, said Xi.
