U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Russian leader Vladimir Putin called him after peace was achieved between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Trump made the statement during a briefing with journalists while speaking about the normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations.
"Putin called me and said, ‘This is amazing.’ He said they had been unable to stop this war," Trump noted.
Recalling the meeting between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia at the White House, Trump emphasized that peace was achieved as a result of that meeting:
“They (the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia) came together at the White House. Gradually, they got closer to each other and achieved peace.”
