The 7th Congress of the Civil Contract Party has just kicked off at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex with the sounds of the Armenian national anthem.
Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan delivered a report.
In his speech, the Prime Minister recalled that the previous, 6th Congress of the Civil Contract Party took place on October 29, 2022.
According to the Prime Minister, it was originally scheduled for September, but due to the war of September 13 and the region’s military-political tense situation, it was held more than a month later than planned.
“This, the 7th Congress of the Party, is taking place under completely different conditions. The Republic of Armenia has entered a completely new stage of its history due to the well-known fact that peace has been established between Armenia and Azerbaijan. That peace was of course established on August 8 in Washington, with the presence and support of the President of the United States Donald Trump, by the declaration adopted by me and the President of Azerbaijan. But I would like to stress that August 8 is the culmination of a long process.
For already 1 year and 7 months, no serviceman has been killed or injured in Armenia-Azerbaijan border shootings, dear colleagues.
Since independence, we have never had such a 1 year and 7 months period when no soldier was killed or injured from border shootings.
This is peace, or this is what peace looks like. It is very simple: to ensure that this 1 year and 7 months become 2 years and 7 months, 3 years and 7 months… 50 years and 7 months, 100 years and 7 months, and so on,” the Prime Minister said.
