After the meeting in the American capital on August 8, the Armenian leadership informed the Russian side at the highest level about the agreements reached there. Maria Zakharova, Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated this during a press briefing Friday.
“It is important for Russia that the peace processes be stable and long-term, taking into account the interests of all countries and neighbors of the South Caucasus,” added Zakharova.
“The engagement of extra-regional players should not fuel the conflict potential of the region, or create new dividing lines in it. This approach fully applies to the unblocking of regional transport communications. The smooth and comprehensive operation of logistics routes requires harmonization of the interests of all countries involved,” said the Russian MFA spox.
“The trilateral agreements between Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, reached in 2020-2022 in the context of the unblocking of regional economic ties, remain relevant. None of the parties has abandoned them. A huge amount of work has been done in the format of a specialized trilateral working group, and concrete results have been achieved. However, no one has yet managed to achieve more,” concluded Maria Zakharova.
The meeting of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk in Yerevan on August 20 was held in a professional, sincere, and constructive atmosphere. Maria Zakharova, Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), stated this during a press briefing Friday.
“Many aspects of economic cooperation were specifically discussed both in a bilateral format and within the EAEU [i.e. the Eurasian Economic Union]. The tasks of the supply of certain types of goods—in particular, food—were discussed in detail,” Zakharova added.
