U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to personally greet Russian President Vladimir Putin upon his arrival in Alaska for the summit, NBC News reported Friday, citing two senior officials in the U.S. administration.
According to the report, Trump plans to meet the Russian leader at Elmendorf-Richardson Air Force Base and host a formal welcome ceremony in his honor.
NBC also reported that, according to three administration officials, Trump does not plan to call any European leaders or Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ahead of Friday’s summit. It remains unclear whether the President might change his mind during the seven-hour flight from Washington to Alaska.
