This path will not be easy, but together we can overcome challenges and make the idea of peace a reality: President of Armenia

President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan has issued a message on the occasion of the signing of the trilateral declaration by Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States.

"Dear compatriots,

Esteemed colleagues and friends,

August 8 will be remembered in the history of our people and the entire region as the day when the path to peace received its clear and irreversible outline.

The Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the United States of America have signed a joint declaration, affirming that past contradictions can and should be replaced by the ideas of mutual respect, good neighbourliness, and joint development.

This step proves that political will, faith, and vision can transform reality. It is based on unwavering respect for the fundamental principles of international law: the sovereignty of states, territorial integrity, and equal rights.

The initialing of the peace treaty is not only a diplomatic document but also a declaration for the security, stability, and prosperity of the region. It is a message to our peoples and future generations that peaceful coexistence is possible if we are guided by trust, mutual understanding, and the pursuit of the common good.

Armenia remains steadfast in its commitment to continue building bridges of trust, restoring economic, cultural, and human ties, and creating an environment where competition is replaced by cooperation, and opposition by joint progress.

Today we are turning not only a new political page, but also embracing a new way of thinking. We are proving that peace is not just a treaty, but a bold choice for the sake of life, the future, and human dignity.

I would like to thank the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, the government, and all those involved in the negotiation process, who, through their responsibility, patience, and tireless work, contributed to the realisation of this important undertaking. Their courage, determination, and political will played a key role in advancing the path to peace.

I also express my gratitude to all states, international partners, and individuals who supported this important process with their consistent and sincere efforts. This path will not be easy, but together we can overcome challenges and make the idea of peace a reality.''
