President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan signed a decree appointing Hambartsum Matevosyan as the country’s new Minister of Environment. The decision was made based on the proposal of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in accordance with Article 131 of the Constitution and Article 5, Part 1 of the Law on the Structure and Activities of the Government.
In a separate decree, President Khachaturyan released Hakob Simidyan from the post of Minister of Environment.
Hambartsum Matevosyan, 33, was born in Gyumri and began his public service career in 2018, when he was appointed Governor of Armenia’s Armavir Province. He later served as Deputy Prime Minister and most recently held the position of Chief Adviser to the Prime Minister.
Matevosyan received his higher education in the United States. He studied World Sciences at Grossmont College in California and continued his education at San Diego State University from 2012 to 2015, where he specialized in International Relations, International Security, and Conflict Resolution.
