Today, I am pleased to record three significant achievements together with Kaja Kallas, the first of which was the signing of the Agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the EU on defining the framework of Armenia’s participation in the European Union’s crisis management operations, which took place a short while ago.
This is a vivid example of the mutually expressed readiness to expand the agenda of the Armenia-EU partnership, which at the same time demonstrates Armenia’s aspiration and desire to make a constructive contribution to global security, stability and peace in the world. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan during a joint press conference with Kaja Kallas, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, at Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and then listed the other two achievements.
“Secondly, today we jointly launched the Armenia-EU consultations in the fields of security and defense. The launch of the consultations in the fields of defense and security is a decisive step to bring the framework of our cooperation in line with modern challenges and make additional efforts to overcome them.
In this context, I would like to emphasize Armenia’s cooperation aimed at strengthening resilience, further developing democratic institutions, which also includes such areas as the fight against hybrid threats and disinformation. In this context, of course, in our discussions today, we have highlighted the activities of the EU Mission in Armenia, discussed the provision of support to Armenia under the European Peace Facility.
Thirdly, I am pleased to note that the Republic of Armenia and the EU have successfully completed negotiations on a new partnership agenda. This is an ambitious document that will complement and further deepen the bilateral agenda of the Republic of Armenia-EU with new areas of cooperation, while promoting the effective implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between Armenia and the EU.
Thus, today we confidently state that the relations between the Republic of Armenia and the EU have never been so comprehensive and close," he said and thanked the EU for standing by Armenia in recent years.
