Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan noted during their June 20 meeting in Istanbul that, on certain issues—particularly those related to the Middle East—the positions of Armenia and Türkiye are “rather close,” Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan told reporters.
He said the leaders discussed the Armenia–Türkiye bilateral relationship, as well as issues concerning the South Caucasus and the Middle East.
“It was noted that the positions of Armenia and Türkiye on a number of topics, especially regarding the Middle East, are rather close. Concerning the opening of the land border between Armenia and Türkiye for citizens of third countries and diplomatic passport holders, I emphasize that both sides reaffirmed that the agreement is still in force. We still need to take steps in this direction,” Kostanyan said.
