By the decision of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Director of the National Security Service (NSS) Armen Abazyan has been relieved of his duties.
According to the official decree, the decision was made in accordance with Article 9, Part 5 of the Law on Public Service and Article 4.1, Part 2 of the Law on National Security Bodies.
The decree states:

Armen Abazyan is hereby dismissed from the position of Director of the National Security Service.

The responsibilities of the NSS Director are temporarily assigned to Deputy Director Andranik Simonyan.
Armen Abazyan had held the position since November 8, 2020.
