"We are holding consultations with Azerbaijan through diplomatic channels to ensure the peace treaty is signed", said Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council Armen Grigoryan during a briefing with journalists.
Referring to the recent shootings near the village of Khoznavar, the Secretary reminded that Armenia has proposed to Azerbaijan the creation of a mechanism for investigating border incidents.
"We continue discussions with Azerbaijan to establish the investigation mechanism," Grigoryan stated.
According to him, there has been progress in the peacebuilding process.
"As a result of the delimitation process, we now have a 12.7 km delimited section of the [Armenia-Azerbaijan] border, with border guard units stationed on both sides", he noted.
Grigoryan said that working groups at the deputy prime ministerial level are continuing their efforts to advance the delimitation process.
"The most recent agreement is that the delimitation process will continue from the Armenia–Georgia–Azerbaijan tri-junction point. Negotiations are ongoing to find solutions that will allow the process to move forward", he added.
Earlier, on May 29, between 01:00 and 01:15 a.m., units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire in the direction of the village of Khoznavar in Armenia’s Syunik Province, damaging a residential house.
According to Armenia’s Ministry of Defence, no casualties were reported.
