The Crossroads of Peace project of Armenia will provide a new opportunity to connect the North and South, the West and the East. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the opening of the Yerevan Dialogue 2025 international forum in the Armenian capital.
Pashinyan recalled that the aforesaid project is based on the important principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction, and reciprocity. According to him, this is an important project for overcoming global crises because when the roads with Azerbaijan and Turkey are opened, it will provide a new opportunity to connect the North and South, the West and the East.
The Armenian PM noted that respective discussions are ongoing, and concrete proposals have been submitted to Azerbaijan on carrying out transportation from the western regions of Azerbaijan to Nakhijevan.
Referring to the western regions of Azerbaijan, the Armenian premier reiterated that there is no and cannot be a “Western Azerbaijan” in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, and that “Western Azerbaijan” is the western regions of Azerbaijan. There cannot be a “Western Azerbaijan” outside its territory, and such discussions are unacceptable to Armenia, Pashinyan added.
The proposals of the Armenian party concern the operation of Armenian locomotives. At the same time, Pashinyan said that some international partners are attempting to create the impression that Armenia is not ready to open communications, adding that this is not the case, and Armenia expects Azerbaijan to provide transit opportunities.
Long-term stable peace is not only possible, but also achievable. Armenia is committed to the peace agenda and is ready to continue consultations with Azerbaijan on how to achieve the signing of a peace agreement and other documents that will fundamentally change the situation and the fate of the peoples of the region. Armenia will do everything in its power, but respecting the above-mentioned principles, Pashinyan said, expressing confidence that despite all the provocations, there will be no war.
