US President Donald Trump said in an interview with NBC News that peace between Ukraine and Russia may be out of reach, while at the same time "considering the conclusion of an agreement quite close."
Trump noted that a great difficulty for negotiations is "the enormous hatred that exists between these two people." Euronews assumes that this refers to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The US leader again did not rule out that Washington could withdraw from the negotiations, but noted that there is still a "very good chance" of signing an agreement.
Trump also announced that he does not plan to run for a third presidential term in 2028. According to him, four years is quite enough time to do something really special. The US president hinted that at the moment he sees Vice President J.D. Vance as the Republican candidate.
