Unexpected snow covered Moscow and the Moscow region on Friday (May 2) as unseasonably cold weather returned to the Russian capital, Reuters reports.
Meteorologists said more that 20% of the monthly normal precipitation for May fell in Moscow overnight.
Over 26,000 people in the Moscow region were left without power supply due to overnight snow fall, said the regional governor Andrei Vorobyov.
More than 200 emergency crews have been out in the wider Moscow area, which is home to more than 22 million people, to help clear roads, remove fallen trees and help restore power, according to local media reports.
