Reuters. Russian drones attacked Ukraine's Black Sea port of Odesa early on Thursday (May 1), sparking fires and damaging dwellings and infrastructure, the regional governor said.
Video released by Odesa authorities showed heavy damage to the facades of buildings and emergency personnel evacuating and attending to residents. Firefighters were seen putting out fires in a building.
Reuters was not able to independently verify the location and date when the footage was filmed.
"The enemy is attacking Odesa with strike drones. There is considerable damage to civilian infrastructure, particularly dwellings," Oleh Kiper, the governor of Odesa, wrote on the Telegram messaging app.
There was no immediate word on casualties.
The Ukrainian army fired 219 munitions and launched 107 drones at nine districts of the Belgorod Region over the past 24 hours; two people were killed and eight more wounded, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on his Telegram channel, TASS reports.
Over the past night, air defenses destroyed and intercepted 34 Ukrainian drones in the skies over five Russian regions, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported.
"Overnight, on-duty air defenses intercepted and destroyed 34 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles, namely 15 over the Kursk Region, eight over the Bryansk Region, seven over the Oryol Region, three over the Vladimir Region, and one over the Belgorod Region," the ministry specified.
