Today, during a joint press conference of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Georgia, the Azerbaijani President announced that the so-called 'Middle Corridor' in the South Caucasus will pass through the territory of Georgia and Azerbaijan. Are we taking any steps to include Armenia in this program? During the Parliament-Government question-and-answer session, MP Hasmik Hakobyan from the 'Civil Contract' faction asked Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan a question.
“Obviously, the Crossroads of Peace project, which was authored and initiated by Armenia's Government, is also about becoming part of these newly sought or established logistical routes, and not only by Armenia, but also by the entire South Caucasus. You may call it the 'Middle Corridor.'
There are many experts who claim that the Crossroads of Peace is a branch of the 'Middle Corridor', there are similar European projects. The whole world is currently searching for new logistical opportunities, and our Crossroads of Peace fits perfectly into these concepts. I will say more: it is well-known that we have made a very constructive, practical proposal. We have made a mutually acceptable proposal to Azerbaijan, and if there is a positive official response, we can immediately begin to unblock the infrastructure and connect to the 'Middle Corridor', without even combining this process with the signing and ratification of our peace treaty,” said Ararat Mirzoyan.
