During a phone conversation with his family, Ruben Vardanyan recorded two voice messages-one of which is being released today, while the other he requested to be published on Sunday. He also stated that he will speak next only during the final court hearing, and only if international representatives are present. This was reported by Ruben Vardanyan’s office.
In today’s voice message, he emphasized that his hunger strike was not only a form of protest but also a way to draw attention to the unjust trial and the overall situation.
"I had several goals in declaring a hunger strike:
-
To show that there is no real trial, but rather a sham process.
-
To highlight that I am not the only one being judged—this is a trial against all Armenians and the Armenian state itself.
-
To demonstrate the price that those who wished to stay and live in Artsakh rather than leave had to pay."
