I don't think observers are here to make statements every day. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said about this, responding to the Public Television Company's remark that Azerbaijan continues to violate the ceasefire regime despite the presence of an observation mission in the region.
“I attach great importance, I want to highly appreciate the presence of EU observers. I believe that as a result of their activity, they should make deeper conclusions and convey those conclusions to the officials involved in the delimitation process and to the international community. I believe and I am sure that these conclusions will be objective. They do not monitor the maintenance of the ceasefire regime, the essence of their mission is deeper. In the context of the Prague statement, when there is a recognized border, they should clarify the relationships with that recognized border,” said the Prime Minister.
As for neighboring Iran's dissatisfaction with the presence of EU observers in Armenia, Pashinyan said that the West has always been present in Armenia.
“There are embassies in our country, there are missions, there are investments in our country. Regarding this observation mission, I considered it important to reveal the genealogy of how and why the observation mission came to Armenia, and I hope that our clarifications and the information provided are sufficient for our partners in the Republic of Iran. However, I do not think that the presence of the civilian mission in Iran causes any concern; at least I didn't get that impression. I think that the presence of other players worries the Republic of Iran, and these players are not in the territory of the Republic of Armenia at all,” Nikol Pashinyan emphasized.
