António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) a congratulatory message to Nikol Pashinyan on his appointment as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. The message says:
"Your Excellency,
Please accept my congratulations on your reappointment as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. The recent parliamentary elections, for which the United Nations provided technical assistance and the quality of which was praised by international observer missions, contributed more to Armenia's democratic development. I expect that under your leadership Armenia will continue to make progress on the path to democratic reform.
The UN is pleased to continue its partnership with the Government and people of Armenia, including through its Permanent Coordinator in Yerevan, the operating team in the country, for the full and successful implementation of the goals for inclusive growth and sustainable development. The recent launch of the UN Sustainable Development Partnership Framework Document 2021-2025 is a good basis for a new partnership.
I would also like to take this opportunity to reaffirm the full support of the UN for the efforts for peace and dialogue in the region, in particular under the auspices of the Minsk Group Co-Chairs particularly for the organization of security and cooperation in Europe. The UN is ready to provide long-term assistance to promote dialogue, respect for human rights, building reconciliation and peace, to create the conditions for the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, and for the establishment of lasting peace and prosperity in the region.
For the first time, the UN Secretariat reached the high-level of gender equality of officials, moving towards equality at all levels of the organization. I continue to urge all member states to make such efforts, I hope that under your leadership, Armenia will make progress on the issue of women's equality at the highest levels.
