By the order of Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, on August 16, Bagrat Alekyan, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, foreign member of the RA National Academy of Sciences, remarkable cardiologist-surgeon was awarded the Alexander Nevsky Order for his contribution to the fight against coronavirus infection. Bagrat Alekyan is a world-known specialist. This was reported by the Information-Analytical Service of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
Alekyan is the Chief Specialist of the Russian Ministry of Health for Endovascular Diagnosis and Treatment. He holds many responsible positions in the Russian healthcare system.
Since 1975 he is working at the Scientific Center of Cardiovascular Surgery in Moscow. Since 1992 he is the head of the department of X-ray examination of blood vessels, and since 1999 he is the head of the department of endovascular surgeons of the Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons of the Russian Federation.
Bagrat Alekyan is the Chairman of the Commission for Intravascular Surgery of the Presidency of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. He is the author of more than 700 scientific works, including 11 monographs.
His works are related to the issues of intravascular diagnosis and treatment of the heart and blood vessels. In 2015, Bagrat Alekyan was awarded the Russian Government Prize in Science and Technology for his scientific work and application.
The angiographic service of Yerevan’s "Erebuni" Medical Center was named after Bagrat Alekyan.
