Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the border situation at the beginning of the Government session and stressed that despite the peace-loving statements made in the international arena, Azerbaijan is doing everything to hinder peace in the region.
“In the 2021 snap parliamentary elections, the Civil Contract Party received a mandate to open a peaceful era for Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). It received the mandate from the citizens of the Republic of Armenia. This mandate presupposes the creation of a favorable environment around our country, the opening of regional communications, the establishment of regional stability and long-lasting peace.
However, after the parliamentary elections, what we predicted happened, saying that it is very likely that Azerbaijan will do everything to disrupt peace in the region, despite the peace-loving statements made in the international arena. It will do so with a tactic that is also predictable, showing that Armenia and Artsakh are allegedly against peace, demarcation and demarcation processes. Against this background, Azerbaijan will create false justifications for building an aggressive policy, the manifestations of which we have seen in recent days, but we have also seen it in the recent months,” Pashinyan said.
In his speech, Armenia’s Acting Prime Minister stressed that Azerbaijan’s actions are aimed at preventing the opening of regional communications.
“The working group at the level of the Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan is carrying out quite constructive, effective work on the opening of regional communications. The incomprehensible statements of Azerbaijan about, the so-called, ‘Zangezur corridor’, have nothing to do with the work done by the working group, and which is more important, with the content of the trilateral statement of Moscow on January 11, which reveals how the 9th point of the trilateral statement of November 9 should be implemented.
My comment is unequivocal: Azerbaijan is making statements about the corridor to disrupt the work of the trilateral working group and prevent the opening of regional communications. Why, because Azerbaijan’s goal is to continue the 30-year process of blockade of Armenia, the policy. But we will continue to work in a trilateral working group to break the blockade of Armenia, with the support of our Russian partners and international partners, we will achieve the opening of regional communications, that is, the unblocking of Armenia,” Pashinyan said.
