“This is probably the best chance of Armenian Genocide Recognition we’ve had in years”: Eugene Chausovsky

The emphasis of the new Administration of the United States on Democracy and Human Rights, as well as America’s geopolitical interests in the Caucasus region could foster President Biden to Recognize the Armenian Genocide on April 24, US-based political analyst Eugene Chausovsky said in an Interview with Armenian Public TV.

1Lurer.am Interviewed Eugene Chausovsky, Non-Resident Fellow with the D.C. based think tank Newlines Institute for Strategy and Policy.

Chausovsky previously served as Senior Eurasia Analyst at the geopolitical analysis firm Stratford (Texas) for more than ten years.

In an exclusive Interview with “Lurer” (News) programme of Armenian Public TV the expert offered opinions whether US President Joe Biden of America recognize The Armenian Genocide officially, using the word “Genocide” in his April 24th statement on the 106th anniversary of that heinous crime against Armenians, organized by the Ottoman Empire during the World War I.

Chausovsky says there are some records that this is probably the best chance of recognition that we’ve had in many years: “There is a real possibility!”

However, it’s difficult to say what position the new President will take, because “there are a lot of political applications engaged in here, particularly related with US-Turkey relations.”

Although the situation in South Caucasus is very fluid and dynamic, American expert thinks the new post-war situation and geopolitical interests precisely could make the Democratic Administration to take that important step.

“I think the U.S. side is really interested in trying to pull these two countries (Armenia and Azerbaijan-ed.) out of the Russian orbit, and now of the Turkish orbit as well, as much as possible. And so it has to deal with anything like the Genocide Recognition, it has to take the geopolitical situation into account as well, creating a very difficult determination there.”

Another important factor that could stimulate the Recognition of The Armenian Genocide by the Biden Administration, according to Eugene Chausovsky, is the emphasis of President Biden on Democracy and Human Rights.
