Today the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights will issue two verdicts with respect to compensation for the refugees displaced during Artsakh conflict. The first case – Chiragov versus Armenia – incorporates the complaint of six refugees concerning the impossibility to return to their houses in Lachin region. The second case – Sargsyan versus Azerbaijan – is made by an Armenian refugee complaining against being deprived of the right to return to his home in Shahumyan region. The ECHR has been examining the cases for a few years. In 2015, both claims were satisfied. However, the decision on just compensation was not ready yet, and the court postponed its publication. In the interview with Agenda, the plenipotentiary representative of the Republic of Armenia to the European Court Gevorg Kostanyan stressed that Artsakh should be included in the execution of the ECHR verdicts.
