While saying “Greece” we immediately imagine Athens and Acropolis, or as they say “the upper city”. Acropolis is built upon an area of elevated ground (156-meter-heigh).
Acropolis is not only an architectural complex, but also a monument representing the history of different epochs of Greece. During the Middle Ages the temples were destroyed, even turned into churches and then into mosques.
But Acropolis was an exception; beginning from 421 the complex was completely reconstructed. Thanks to its high position the monument symbolizing Greece is visible from all corners of Athens.
