UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham does not support holding referendums on Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland leaving the country, a UK government spokesperson stated.
According to the spokesperson, the government is committed to working with all four nations of the country and defending the unity of the United Kingdom.
It was stated that the Prime Minister firmly believes in the unity of the United Kingdom.
“The United Kingdom is strongest when people unite around shared values and solving problems, rather than around division,” the government spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added that the government is focused on reducing the financial burden on families and ensuring economic security and does not intend to engage in “constitutional debates or additional referendums.”
It should be noted that on September 14, the leaders of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland gathered in Cardiff and signed a memorandum on constitutional change and the right to self-determination.
