Israel Defense Forces must be ready to independently wage war against Iran if necessary, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Friday.
"The IDF General Staff must be ready to independently deliver an Israeli strike on Iran if necessary to eliminate any threats," The Jerusalem Post quoted the minister as saying.
Katz's comments come as the 1,000th day since the Palestinian group Hamas invaded Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, approaches.
He also recalled that during the recent armed conflict, Israel managed to "eliminate most of the Iranian leadership and damage Iran's strategic capabilities."
The day before, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi warned Israel against threatening statements against the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to him, Tehran will respond "instantly and powerfully" to any threat.
Earlier this year, Israel, together with the United States, conducted a military operation against Iran. Western media noted that after the start of negotiations between Washington and Tehran on a truce, U.S. President Donald Trump began to harshly criticize Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in private conversations for his unwillingness to stop strikes on Iranian territory.
