On June 10–11, a delegation led by Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, Major General Artur Yeroyan, participated in a meeting of the Executive Academic Board of the European Security and Defence College at the headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels. The information was reported by the Ministry of Defence.
During the event, Major General Artur Yeroyan presented the reforms being implemented in the fields of military education and training as part of the transformation of the Armenian Army.
Presentations were also delivered by Major General Arsen Mangasaryan, Commandant of the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy of the Ministry of Defence, and Tigran Harutyunyan, Coordinator of the Ministry of Defence’s cooperation with NATO and the EU in the field of military education.
Representatives of the Executive Academic Board of the European Security and Defence College highly appreciated the reforms being carried out in Armenia’s military educational institutions and emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation, particularly within the framework of the EU Military Erasmus (EMILYO) programme. Approval was given to the proposal for the National Defence Research University of the Ministry of Defence and the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy to join the College as associated partners. The proposal has been forwarded to the College’s Steering Committee for approval.
Within the framework of the visit to Brussels, the Armenian Ministry of Defence delegation also met at NATO Headquarters with Piers Cazalet, Head of the Defence and Security Cooperation Directorate. The sides discussed issues related to ongoing cooperation programmes and future prospects in the field of defence.
