I would like to once again remind and emphasize that on May 28, 2026, the parade of our new army took place, becoming a major event for all of us, for the Republic of Armenia and its citizens, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a session of the National Assembly committees during the opening of discussions on the annual report on the execution of the 2025 state budget.
According to the Prime Minister, over the course of several years, Armenia has succeeded in carrying out substantial reforms in the armed forces to the extent that it can now state that the country has a new army.
“I would like to emphasize not only the acquisition of weapons and military equipment from abroad, but also the establishment of a genuine defense industry complex in Armenia, because since 2022 the Government has invested around AMD 170 billion in the defense industry sector. Today, we have a defense industry that is also showing promising developments in international markets. The first exports have already taken place, and the first contracts have been signed, representing quite significant and substantial figures both for Armenia and for the sector as a whole.
I would also like to emphasize that we have implemented other institutional reforms within the army, including the ‘Defender of the Fatherland’ program, which is a fairly large-scale budgetary initiative,” Nikol Pashinyan said.
According to the Prime Minister, another new development related to the armed forces is that, starting this year, graduates of the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy will receive a housing purchase certificate calculated according to Yerevan real estate prices upon entering military service.
