From 20 to 24 April, the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Forum on Financing for Development Follow-up is being held in New York under the auspices of ECOSOC, bringing together high-level representatives of Member States, international financial institutions, entities of the United Nations system, and other stakeholders to discuss issues related to the global financing framework, reform of the international financial architecture, debt sustainability, international trade, as well as the role of the private sector and finance, Permanent Mission of the Republic of Armenia to the United Nations reports.
The Forum also includes special high-level meetings with the Bretton Woods institutions, as well as with the World Trade Organization and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
Within the framework of the Forum, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the United Nations, Paruyr Hovhannisyan, in his capacity as Vice-President of ECOSOC, has chaired a number of sessions of the Forum, including those on the global economic framework, reform of the international financial architecture, and private and public financing, and has also delivered remarks during the discussion under the agenda item on investment. Ambassador Hovhannisyan also presented, in his capacity as Chair, the outcomes of the ECOSOC special meeting on credit ratings held on 30 March, which constitutes one of the commitments under the Sevilla Commitment.
Within the framework of the Forum, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia, Edgar Mkrtchyan, delivered statements during the general debate, as well as under the agenda items on key trends in financing for development and domestic and international private business and finance. Deputy Minister Mkrtchyan also participated as a speaker in the meeting with the World Trade Organization and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
