Armenia’s Ambassador to France, Arman Khachatryan, and embassy staff attended a reception at Paris City Hall dedicated to the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on April 24, at the invitation of Paris Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire.
The event was attended by parliamentarians, members of the Paris City Council, representatives of community, cultural, and church organizations, as well as hundreds of French Armenians and French citizens.
Speeches were delivered by Ambassador Khachatryan, Paris Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire, and the co-chairs of the Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations of France.
In his remarks, Ambassador Khachatryan thanked the newly elected mayor of Paris for his solidarity with Armenia and the Armenian people, as well as for organizing the reception dedicated to the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
He stressed that throughout history, France has always stood by the Armenian people and expressed gratitude for France’s continued support for Armenia and Armenians, highlighting its important role in the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
The ambassador also noted that, while honoring the memory of the innocent victims of the genocide, Armenia continues its efforts to normalize relations with its neighbors by choosing the path of peace.
He added that Armenia’s initiatives on international platforms contribute to the prevention of genocides and crimes against humanity.
