The construction of a second terminal at Zvartnots International Airport is planned by 2033, with an increase in annual passenger capacity. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan while presenting the pre-election program of the Civil Contract Party.
“I want you to know that the construction of a second terminal at Zvartnots International Airport cannot be postponed, because our airport is experiencing almost the same congestion as the city of Yerevan during peak hours. Our airport is barely, and with great strain, able to handle passenger flows, and the planned figures that were set for this terminal are either already very close or are sometimes significantly exceeded,” he said.
It is also planned to reorganize Syunik Airport as an international airport.
“We must grant Syunik Airport in Kapan the status of an international airport, and that process has already begun. Of course, the airport is already able to receive aircraft of a certain size, and if necessary, work will also be carried out to increase certain runway capacities so that it can accommodate larger aircraft.
Our calculations show that Syunik Airport also has considerable potential to operate international flights,” he said.
