From 2018 to 2025, 4,735 kilometers of road construction, capital repair, and renovation works have been carried out, 1,346 kilometers of which were implemented through subvention programs, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, stated at the Parliament during the presentation of the report on the progress and results of the implementation of the Action Plan of the Republic of Armenia (2021–2026) for 2025.
“Now who remembers what the condition of the Bagratashen–Yerevan road was as of 2018, for example, what the condition of the Yerevan–Goris road was, what the condition of the Yerevan–Meghri road was, what the condition of the Yerevan–Gyumri road was, who remembers what the condition of the Yerevan–Vanadzor road was? I do, I remember, and I am convinced that many others remember as well; it’s just that many do not want to remember,” the Prime Minister noted.
“The Ashtarak–Gyumri section of the North–South corridor is now a reality. We have built or overhauled roads of strategic importance that have been discussed since 1993. I was in my first or second year at university when Armenian prime ministers were speaking from the parliamentary rostrum about paving the Gandzakar–Itsakar road. In Berd, there was a civic initiative that fought for 15 years for the enlarged Berd community to have a safe road. The Berd community now has no dangerous roads at all and has the Gandzakar–Itsakar road, which has been ready since December—we simply have not found the time to go and hold the opening ceremony. The Ttujur–Navur road, the strategically significant Tatev–Ltsen road, the Tatev–Shinuhayr road, the Khot–Vorotan road—all of which have strategic importance.
Now they will again say, ‘Oh, they gave away the lands,’ these roads and so on. We have not given our lands to anyone; we have recognized the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, because it is the greatest absurdity when any country does not recognize its own territorial integrity—that is a path leading to the destruction of the country. Let us admit it—we too have participated in that path, but we have had enough wisdom and strength to see that path, confront it, and change the course of history,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
