Oman's maritime security centre said on Sunday that Palau-flagged oil tanker Skylight was attacked about five nautical miles off Oman's Musandam, Reuters reports.
The attack followed drone strikes on the Gulf country's commercial port of Duqm.
Oman's Musandam peninsula shares control of the Strait of Hormuz with Iran. It is a vital strategic chokepoint through which roughly a fifth of global oil consumption flows.
The 20-person crew of the Skylight was evacuated after the attack, the Oman Maritime Security Centre said in a post on X. The Oman maritime security centre did not specify what hit the tanker.
