Reuters. Ukraine-Russia peace talks backed by the United States will resume in the near future, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Thursday (February 5) after negotiators wrapped up a second round of discussions in Abu Dhabi.
Zelenskiy said Kyiv’s delegation raised the issue of further prisoner-of-war swaps with Russia, after the two sides exchanged a total of 314 detainees earlier in the day, including 157 Ukrainian soldiers.
Speaking alongside Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Kyiv, Zelenskiy said Ukraine was ready to swap domestically produced drones for air defence missiles and Polish MiG-29 fighter jets.
Tusk said Warsaw was prepared to transfer the aircraft if the need persisted, adding the sides had discussed a possible reciprocal arrangement.
Zelenskiy also said Ukraine and Poland were exploring closer energy cooperation, including strengthening cross-border power grid links, as Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has been heavily damaged by recent Russian air strikes.
