Armenia is going through difficult times, as is the United Nations, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan said while speaking at an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Development Programme.
He noted that these challenges also create opportunities to review existing cooperation formats and identify more effective approaches to joint governance and development. Khachaturyan expressed confidence that such progress is possible, adding that impressions gained from his meetings in Davos support this view.
The President stressed that Armenia’s cooperation with UNDP is future-oriented. He recalled that at various stages of his career, as an expert, mayor, and minister, he was personally involved in initiatives implemented in cooperation with UNDP.
Khachaturyan particularly highlighted joint efforts aimed at developing a high-tech strategy, noting that these initiatives are already delivering visible results. He assured that cooperation with UNDP would continue, emphasizing the importance of selecting the most effective ideas and implementing them both quickly and thoughtfully.
The President also emphasized the need to navigate information flows effectively, noting that Armenia expects continued support from UN structures, particularly the United Nations Development Programme. Khachaturyan thanked UNDP representatives and other UN programs for their long-term support of Armenia’s development.
