Mexican legislators visited Armenia as part of parliamentary cooperation to discuss a number of agenda items.
The delegation was led by Silvia Patricia Jiménez Delgado, who serves as the head of the Mexico–Armenia Friendship Group at the Mexican Chamber of Deputies.
Vice Speaker of Parliament Ruben Rubinyan received the delegation. During the meeting, he emphasized the importance of strengthening Armenia–Mexico relations, deepening parliamentary cooperation, and intensifying mutual visits, the parliament’s press service said in a press release.
MP Sargis Khandanyan, head of the Armenian parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee, also met with the delegation. “Despite the geographic distance, the two peoples are close to each other,” he said.
Khandanyan noted that Armenia attaches importance to the development of relations with Mexico. The sides also emphasized the importance of bilateral flights.
MP Khandanyan (Civil Contract) also spoke about the Armenia–Azerbaijan dialogue.
The delegation also discussed partnership with MP Artur Khachatryan, head of the Armenian parliament’s friendship group with Mexico.
Silvia Patricia Jiménez Delgado expressed satisfaction with the partnership between Armenia and Mexico. “The first thing that caught my eye is the pace of economic growth in your country,” she said.
The Mexican delegation also visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan and laid flowers.
Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan also received the delegation.
