EU member states on Friday approved the signing of the Mercosur trade agreement, paving the way for a vast free trade area covering more than 700 million people across Europe and Latin America after more than two decades of negotiations, Euronews reports.
France said it will continue to oppose the deal in the European Parliament, despite a qualified majority backing the agreement and the adoption of safeguards to monitor potential market disruptions from imports from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.
