Reports emerge of Azerbaijani citizens’ participation in the Russia–Ukraine war and other armed conflicts.
Recently facts have emerged regarding the participation of Azerbaijani citizens in military operations between Russia and Ukraine, as well as in other armed conflicts, Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office has announced.
The agency recalled that mercenarism—namely, participation in a military conflict or operations for the purpose of receiving material remuneration when not being a citizen—is considered a crime and is punishable by 8 to 20 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
The Prosecutor General’s Office has called on Azerbaijani citizens to remain vigilant, not to give in to illegal calls, and to respect the laws of the state.
