The National Assembly is discussing the draft law on the State Budget of the Republic of Armenia for 2026.
According to the main speaker, Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan, this is the Government’s final budget — the logical conclusion of a challenging five-year journey.
“Today, I am pleased to note that for the first time, we are discussing the budget under peaceful conditions.
Dear colleagues, our vision is clear — we want an economy that, on one hand, offers technological and innovative products to the world, and on the other, with its modern infrastructure, becomes a key hub for economic and human flows in the region.
This historic period of peace is about responsible policymaking, foresight, and the proper balance of priorities. It was precisely this approach that guided us in drafting the 2026 State Budget for the election year. We have managed to combine short-term and long-term opportunities, finding a point of balance between them, while maintaining fiscal stability and reducing the deficit — an approach that can truly be described as unprecedented,” the Minister said.
According to Hovhannisyan, a 5.4% economic growth is expected in 2026, with the GDP nearly reaching AMD 12 trillion, exceeding initial forecasts.
He emphasized that even the International Monetary Fund has raised its growth forecast for Armenia, now expecting a 5.5% economic growth in 2026.
