The General Department of Criminal Police received operative information that a man wanted for committing indecent acts against a minor in the United States was hiding in Armenia, the Police reported.
The U.S. citizen had been declared wanted back in 2024 on charges of committing crimes under several articles of the Texas Penal Code.
On August 5 of this year, U.S. law enforcement authorities issued an international search warrant for the man.
Officers of Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs Criminal Police, in active cooperation with the Regional Security Office of the U.S. Embassy, launched efforts to locate the wanted individual.
The suspect’s last known hiding place was identified, and officers from the Shirak Regional Department of the Criminal Police joined the search operation.
On November 5, the wanted man was found and detained in one of the houses on Sundukyan Street in the city of Gyumri.
Interpol and the Prosecutor’s Office have been notified about his apprehension.
