Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has highlighted the importance of the agreement with Türkiye about relaunching the Kars-Gyumri railway in the context of the unblocking of transport links in South Caucasus.
He made the remarks when asked by an Azerbaijani reporter at the Orbeli Forum 2025 on the opportunities for linking via Armenian territory the Kars-Nakhchivan infrastructures under construction in Türkiye, and other infrastructures under construction in Azerbaijan.
“This route will ensure the movement and transportation of goods to the Far East and, for example, to the United Kingdom and Portugal,” Mirzoyan said.
Armenia and Türkiye agreed earlier this year to take steps toward launching the Gyumri-Kars railway.
