Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has described Donald Trump as a “transformative president,” crediting him with contributing to peace efforts in several global hotspots — including between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Speaking during bilateral talks at the White House, Carney praised Trump’s influence on international stability and economic developments.
“You (Donald Trump) hosted me and some of my colleagues a few months ago, and I said then, ‘You are a transformative president,’” Carney said in the Oval Office, as Trump nodded in agreement.
“And since then, the transformation in the economy, unprecedented defense spending commitments from NATO partners, and peace initiatives — from India and Pakistan to Armenia and Azerbaijan — have been remarkable,” he added, also noting U.S. efforts to curb Iran’s regional influence.
