Rows of sheet-draped bodies laid out in Cebu bore stark witness to the human toll of a 6.9-magnitude earthquake that hit central Philippines on Wednesday (October 1), as survivors were seen grieving beside them, Reuters reports.
In the quake-struck city of Bogo in Cebu, vehicles were seen navigating around cracks on roads alongside structures partly destroyed by the earthquake.
The death toll from the quake rose to 69 on Wednesday, a disaster official said, as authorities mounted a rescue effort to find survivors after one of the country's strongest quakes in a decade.
The shallow quake struck late on Tuesday (September 30) off the coast of the island of Cebu, cutting power and damaging buildings. It was not immediately clear how many people were missing.
