President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev delivered a speech at the UN, addressing relations with Armenia, peace, and the unblocking of communications.
He noted that after the 2020 war, Azerbaijan declared its readiness to open a new page in relations with Armenia on the basis of mutual recognition of territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Aliyev emphasized that negotiations with Armenia yielded positive results, as they were conducted exclusively in a bilateral format.
“Despite various provocations, the negotiations yielded positive results, as they were conducted exclusively in a bilateral format, without external interference,” the President of Azerbaijan said.
Aliyev also stated that regional communications are the foundation of the vision for lasting peace.
“One of the important outcomes of the Washington summit is the initiative ‘Trump’s Route for International Peace and Prosperity’ (TRIPP), which will ensure uninterrupted passage through the ‘Zangezur Corridor’ and promote the development of regional ties,” he said.
Aliyev also expressed gratitude to Trump for opening a new page in Azerbaijani-American relations, for the decision to elevate relations to the level of strategic partnership, and for supporting the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
