Swedish Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Eva Sundquist presented her credentials to President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan.
The President congratulated the Ambassador on her appointment, praising Sweden's programs and initiatives in Armenia and expressing gratitude for its role in supporting democratic development.
He highlighted the high level of political dialogue and cooperation between the two countries, expressing confidence that bilateral relations will further deepen during her tenure.
Ambassador Sundquist thanked the President for the warm welcome: "It is a great honor for me to be the Ambassador to Armenia, which is a wonderful country with a rich history and culture. I look forward to the further development of our bilateral relations."
The sides emphasized the progress achieved in Armenia's democratic reforms in recent years, noting the importance of Sweden’s support for strengthening democracy and the rule of law. They also discussed preparations for upcoming international events, including the European Political Community meeting and the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), scheduled to be held in Armenia in 2026.
President Khachaturyan and Ambassador Sundquist exchanged views on regional developments. Both stressed that close cooperation with international partners could lay strong foundations for peace and contribute to the sustainable development of the region.
