U.N. nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi said on Wednesday (September 10) that a deal reached with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on how to move toward a full resumption of inspections in Iran was "an important step in the right direction," Reuters reports.
"It was encouraging for us to see Iran's declared willingness not to leave the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) and to continue working inside the international nonproliferation regime," Grossi told the IAEA Board of Governors in Vienna.
The International Atomic Energy Agency has not had access to Iran's key nuclear facilities since the United States and Israel bombed them in June. Iran passed a law after the attacks suspending cooperation with the IAEA and saying any inspections had to be approved by its Supreme National Security Council.
