Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has met with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, in Cairo, IRNA reports.
Araghchi arrived in Cairo on Tuesday for a one-day official visit aimed at holding talks with senior Egyptian leaders.
Heading a diplomatic delegation, Araghchi is scheduled to meet separately with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The discussions will cover bilateral relations as well as key regional and international developments.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei had announced earlier on the day that Araghchi’s regional tour includes stops in both Egypt and Tunisia.
He added that during his stay in Cairo, the foreign minister would also meet with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to finalize negotiations on a new framework for Iran-IAEA cooperation.
