Prosecutor-General of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, during her visit to Singapore for the 30th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP), met with her Saudi counterpart Sheikh Saud bin Abdullah Al-Mujib.
Vardapetyan thanked the Attorney General of Saudi Arabia for initiating a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the IAP conference and emphasized that the event is a good opportunity to “engage in dialogue and strengthen the collegial relations” between the law enforcement agencies, her office said in a press release.
Vardapetyan highlighted the “great potential” for the development of international legal cooperation under criminal proceedings between the prosecutions of both countries.
The parties discussed other issues of mutual interest and addressed the prospects of cooperation.
Vardapetyan is visiting Singapore to participate in the 30th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP).
Vardapetyan was nominated as member of the IAP Executive Committee during the body's April 8 meeting in Buenos Aires. The election of a member to the Executive Committee is expected on September 9.
Armenia has been a member of the IAP since 1999 but this marks the first time an Armenian Prosecutor-General is nominated for membership to the Executive Committee.
During the visit to Singapore, Vardapetyan is expected to hold meetings with counterparts participating in the event.
