The expansion of the railway network between Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey will have a significant positive impact on regional trade, strengthening cooperation and economic ties between all countries in the South Caucasus. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this in his address at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kars-Igdir-Aralık-Dilujü railway line.
According to him, the railway will provide a new transport link between Turkey and Azerbaijan, become a bridge between Turkey, Nakhijvan and Azerbaijan, and connect the Caspian and Mediterranean sea basins.
Erdogan stressed that the project will also increase production and exports in Turkey’s eastern regions, improve transport infrastructure, strengthen the region’s tourism potential and have a positive impact on regional trade.
