US President Donald Trump has not ruled out imposing new sanctions on Moscow or doing nothing: it will depend on progress in ending the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. According to Trump, everything will be clear in two weeks.
“At that time, I will make a decision on what to do next. It could be major sanctions or tariffs, or both. Or we may do nothing and say, ‘This is your war,’” the US President said.
Trump also expressed dissatisfaction with Russian strikes on American companies operating in Ukraine. He stressed, “I am unhappy with everything about that war.” Asked what he would do if the parties did not sit down at the negotiating table, Trump said he would find out who was to blame and whether there were reasons for this.
After meeting with the Russian President in Alaska and then with Ukrainian and European leaders at the White House, Donald Trump expects Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky to meet.
The Russian Foreign Minister, however, stated that Putin would only attend the meeting if it had a presidential agenda.
Kyiv also stated that Zelensky would meet with Putin only after the allies had finally agreed on security guarantees for Ukraine.
